Primary Elections in NC
In North Carolina’s partisan primaries, your party affiliation determines which ballot you can vote on:
Registered Democrat → Democratic primary ballot only
Registered Republican → Republican primary ballot only
You cannot vote in another party’s primary, even if your party isn’t holding one
Want flexibility? Register as Unaffiliated. Unaffiliated voters may choose one party’s primary ballot (or a nonpartisan ballot, if available)
In the general election, all voters may vote for any candidate from any party

Prefer paper? Complete, sign, and mail your form.

Download and complete the appropriate voter registration application. Make sure to fill in all required fields.
Step 2 — Print & Sign
Print your completed application and sign with ink.
Step 3 — Mail or Deliver

Existing Registrants: If you are already registered in the county and are updating your information, you may fax or email the signed form.
